Your Song

Your Song (English for "Your Song ") is a ballad, which was written by Bernie Taupin and Elton John. The song was released in August 1970 on the second self-titled album by Elton John and in October 1970 as the title track of the single of the same name.

Formation

Elton John composed the melody on October 27, 1969 within ten minutes, Bernie Taupin wrote the lyrics at the breakfast table of Elton John's mother. The original lyric sheet was provided for this reason, with eggs and coffee stains, John noted in his diary that he had done nothing that day, except to write the song. The song was the first big hit of Elton John and is still one of his standard repertoire.
