Youri Ziffzer

Youri Ziffzer ( born August 21, 1986 in Singapore ) is a German professional ice hockey goaltender who plays for the Cologne Sharks of the German Ice Hockey League since 2011.

Career

Youri Ziffzer was born in Singapore, but his family moved shortly thereafter to Germany, where Ziffzer learned to play hockey on the EHC Klostersee. In 2001, he joined the junior project Adler Mannheim, where he played for the young eagles in the DNL. Three times he won with the Mannheimers the title in the highest German junior league. After he left Danny from the birches was only the fourth goalkeeper of the eagle in the DEL in the season 2003/ 04, the left -catching goalie decided a change to the polar bear Berlin. In his first year in Berlin, he came almost exclusively in the Oberliga team of polar bears used. But in the following season, he completed the majority of the year in the DEL and was with the people of Berlin for the second time German champion. Middle of the season he was briefly loaned to the Hamburg Freezers. In the season 2006/ 07 he was a regular goalkeeper for the polar bears. His contract at the Brussels residents ran until 2009. After a total of four championships then he moved to league rivals Hannover Scorpions, for whom he played until 2011. With the Scorpions, he was again German champion in the season 2009/10.

2004 was the first time for a Ziffzer DEB - choice in goal. In the U-18 World Cup 2004, he was the best goalkeeper of the tournament. In addition, he stood at the Junior World Championships in 2005 and 2006 on the ice. In February 2007 he was appointed national coach Uwe Krupp for the first time in the senior team. To this end, he took part in the 2007 World Championships in Moscow.

His father Stefan Ziffzer is responsible for the finances of the earlier -been manager of the football second division side TSV 1860 Munich.
