Youssouf Hersi

Youssouf Hersi ( born August 20, 1982 in Dire Dawa, Ethiopia ) is a Dutch football player.

Career

Association

Hersi went through various youth teams, before he moved to the junior level of Ajax Amsterdam 2000. After one year, the midfielder was appointed to the senior squad of the club, where he came to nine appearances in the 2001/ 02 season. The following year the young players joined league rival NAC Breda. There he came permanently to match practice and was a regular player. After a good season in Breda, he moved to NEC Nijmegen. Again, the offensive players prevailed. At game time 2003/ 04 he scored ten goals in the Eredivisie. His previous best goal tally, 2005/06, he reached the same number of hits, in the professional sector. Finally Hersi changed in the summer of 2004 for SC Heerenveen, remained there but only for a half a year before he turned into the services of Vitesse Arnhem. After 2 ½ years, lured him pretty good FC Twente Enschede after. 2008 under Fred Rutten and 2009 under Steve McClaren was the team twice in a row, Dutch runners-up. In addition, one in 2009 reached the final of the KNVB Cup, which went on penalties to Hersis former club Heerenveen lost. This Hersi was a tragic person of the lot. Substitute was not until the 84th minute for Kenneth Perez, he shot the 2-2 in the 118th minute and then missed the decisive penalty. In August 2009 he moved to Greece for AEK Athens in a transfer -free exchange with the Finnish national team Perparim Hetemaj who moved to Twente. For the 2010/11 season Hersi returned to the Netherlands and joined De Graafschap on.

In 2001, Hersi with the U-20 of the Netherlands at the U-20 FIFA World Cup finals.
