Youth Aliyah

The Children and Youth Aliyah ( Alijat Noar, from Hebrew aliyah for ascent) is a Jewish organization that tried to bring as many children and young people in the time of National Socialism from the German Reich, especially to Palestine in safety.

It was launched in Berlin from Recha Free on 30 January 1933. The idea was at the 18th Zionist Congress in Prague support. Recha Freier, wife of a Berlin rabbi who headed the organization in Germany, Henrietta Szold in Jerusalem. Closest collaborator of Ms. Szold was a native of Thuringia Hans Beyth. Many members of the Jewish Youth Federal Chug Chaluzi under their leader Yitzhak Schwersenz were able to escape through the Children and Youth Aliyah from Berlin. There were rescued about 21,000 children and adolescents. Among others, Hannah Arendt worked for Youth Aliyah in exile in Paris.

In addition, more than 350,000 children and adolescents were cared for from over 80 countries to date, according to the organization.
