Youth Day

The Youth Day is a day of remembrance, recalling the importance of youth as a life stage. It is celebrated in different countries on different dates.

Internationally

In 1999, the United Nations General Assembly in resolution 54/120 August 12 as the International Day of Youth ( International Youth Day) set.

Yugoslavia

The Day of Youth ( Serbo-Croatian Dan mladosti ) was from 1957 to 1987 a Yugoslav feast day.

The 25th of May from 1945 celebrated as the birthday of the Yugoslav state and party leader Josip Broz Tito with relay races across the country, where hundreds of thousands of youth Yugoslavs were involved. The runs ended with the surrender of the relay races at Tito in Belgrade. As of 1957, the 25 May, the name " Youth Day ", was probably in response to the Soviet criticism of the cult of personality after the XX. Congress of the CPSU. From 1957 to 1987, a supra-regional relay race was only organized and expanded for the Framework Programme of the May 25 massive in all Yugoslav republics with a wide variety of cultural, sporting, musical and political programs. North Korea

In North Korea, the Youth Day is celebrated annually on 28 August, the anniversary of the founding of the Socialist Youth Association " Kim Il-sung " in 1927.

Austria

In Austria the 1930ies a Youth Day was set for May 27 (picture).
