Youth Defense League

Youth Defense League (abbreviated YDL ) was a short-lived American hardcore punk band. Although their image and texts attracted inspiration from the British Rock Against Communism and the band revealed a white-power setting to the outside, it was considered as part of the New York hardcore scene.

Band History

The band released 1986 and 1988 depending on a demo tape. Starting as a normal New Yorker skinhead band in the style of similar bands like Iron Cross or the early Agnostic Front came with singer Nick influences from the British RAC, for example, Skrewdriver and Brutal Attack, added.

In interviews, the band was different. She described herself as apolitical times and times as far to the right standing and pro-American, in a radio interview to radio station WNYU as White Pride band. One of the band members came from the Middle East. How many bands in the New York scene ( as Warzone ) so they were despite their worn outward attitude to flaunt a " multi-racial band. " With Turncoat, however, the band released a clear xenophobic song. Despite all this, Ray Cappo ( Youth of Today ) took the song Blue Pride with the genre founded Sampler New York Hardcore - The Way It Is in the Art of the band page in the booklet the RAC logo was printed, also greeted the band Ian Stuart of Skrewdriver.

After the dissolution in 1988 against several compilations of YDL - songs, in part to U.S. law rock labels like Vulture rock appeared. A live CD of this label has been included in the punk club CBGB. Part of the old recordings was also produced by hardcore punk legend Don Fury.
