Youth Hero Motorway

The road of the heroic youth is a trunk road in North Korea and connects the cities of Pyongyang and Namp'o about the places Chongsan -ri -ri and Thaesong. Its length is about 40 kilometers. With five lanes in each direction, it is the widest highway in North Korea.

The road was built mainly of children and adolescents. It is only slightly sail in proportion to their size, since private transport in North Korea is not usual. The driveway in Pyongyang is located directly on the Mangyongdae Schoolchildren's Palace in the Kwangbok Street in the borough of Mangyongdae - guyŏk. In Namp'o it goes across the bridge of the youth in the city.

First, the road was known as the Pyongyang - Namp'o expressway, the name of a road opened in 1978, which served as the basis of the construction. In a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly, she was, however, awarded in honor of the predominantly young construction worker of the socialist state, the street names of the heroic youth.

Construction work

The road was opened after two years of work in October 2000. The work was performed under a general infrastructural development plan and were carried out despite significant defects in machinery and building materials. A total of 14 million cubic meters of earth were removed and paved three million cubic meters of distance. In addition, 80 irrigation systems, about 50 bridges and roads were built with a total length of 83.6 kilometers. Along the road woods and green spaces have been created and adapted river and stream courses to a total of 33 points.
