Yu opera

The Yuju Opera (Chinese豫剧/豫剧yuju ), also called Henan Opera is a local form of Chinese opera.

Formation

The Yuju opera originated in the late period of the Ming Dynasty by connecting the Shanxi and Shaanxi opera with the local dialect and local folk songs of Henan Province. There are four schools of Yuju opera, of which today only the Hedong and Hexistil are still widespread, while the Xiangfu and Sahestil are not more popular.
