Yuan Hong

Yuan Hong (Chinese袁宏, W.-G. Yuan Hung ), farm name Yanbo (* 328 in Zhoukou, † 376), was a scholar, historian and politician of the Eastern Jin Dynasty. He came from Zhoukou in today's Henan Province, and served the generals Xie Shang and Huan Wen on several campaigns as a counselor. His historical work, particularly his recordings of the Later Han, served the historian Fan Ye as a source for his book of the Later Han. Yuan Hong's historical work consisted of 30 volumes and is not preserved. However, about twenty poems and essays have been handed down under his name.
