Yuelu Academy

The Yuelu Academy (Chinese岳麓 书院, Yuelu Shuyuan Pinyin, W.-G. Yueh -lu shu -yuan, English Yuelu Academy) in Changsha, capital of Hunan, is one of the oldest and most important Chinese schools. It was founded in the year 976 in the Song Dynasty and was one of the four most prestigious in the country. It is located on the hill Yuelushan the west bank of Xiangjiang River. The Yuelu Academy is since 1988 on the list of monuments of the People's Republic of China ( 3-75 ). It was renamed in 1926 in Hunan University.
