Yüksel Yavuz
Yüksel Yavuz ( born 1 February 1964 in Karakoçan, Turkey) is a writer-director of Kurdish origin from Turkey.
Yavuz, since 1980 in Germany, studied sociology and economics in Hamburg. With my father, the guest workers (1994 ), an autobiographical documentary, Yavuz presented his first film work. This has won several awards, including the Verdi - Television Award. His second feature film April Children ( 1998) was awarded a special prize at the 1999 Baden -Baden days of the television game and the Audience Award at the Filmfestival Max Ophüls Preis. With Kleine Freiheit (2003) was followed by another film by the filmmaker. Most recently, his film Close up - Kurdistan (2007), a close-up of his Kurdish homeland in Cologne premiere.
