Yulia Mikhailovna Saripowa (Russian Юлия Михайловна Зарипова, English transcription Yuliya Zaripova, born Иванова - Ivanova - Ivanova, in first marriage Заруднева - Sarudnewa - Zarudneva, . Born April 26, 1986 in Svetly Jar, Volgograd Oblast ) is a Russian and Obstacle long-distance runner. She is the reigning Olympic champion and world champion.

Career

The daughter of an athletics coach first specialized in the 800 -meter distance and was the junior race of the European Cross Country Championships 2005 Eighth. After the birth of a daughter and the death of their coach Gennadi Naumov interrupted initially their athletic career. Under their new coach Mikhail Kuznetsov, she moved to the obstacle course.

In 2008 she was Russian U23 Champion and won at the European Cross Country Championships in Brussels bronze in the U23 category. In the indoor season, 2009, she was over 3000 m national champion and seventh in the Indoor Athletics Championships in Turin. As a Russian champion in steeplechase she went to the World Athletics Championships in Berlin and won behind Marta Domínguez silver medal in 9:08,39 min.

A year later she won at the 2010 European Championships in Barcelona with a time of 9:17,57 min the gold medal before Domínguez and won the IAAF Continental Cup in Split.

In 2011 she was again Russian champion and secured at the World Championships in Daegu the title with a time of 9:07,03 min. Also at the 2012 Olympics in London, she took in impressive fashion the gold medal. Shortly thereafter, she was launched on August 17, 2012 at the Diamond League meeting in Stockholm new personal best in a time of 9:05,02 min and therefore occupies second place in the eternal world leaderboard.

Julija Saripowa lives in Volgograd and starts for the club Dynamo. In 2010 she married Ildar Saripow.
