YUP (band)

YUP ( Yhdistyneet Urbaanit Puoskarit ) is a Finnish rock band from Savonlinna.

Band History

YUP was founded in 1987 under the name YUP, Young Urban Perverts Jarkko Martikainen, Valtteri Tynkkynen and Jussi Hyyrynen, three students of the Academy of Savonlinna. 1990 published the three her first album, The Hippos From Hell in self-distribution. The style then was hardcore punk -oriented, the lyrics were political in nature and also in English. In their later publications was sung Finnish.

In 1992, the band with Tommi Kärkkäinen a fourth member on keyboards. A short time later, after the release of the single Daavidin fuzz / Paratiisin sahakielet moved from drums to guitar Jussi Hyyrynen why Janne Mannonen a new drummer has been added as well. Kärkkäinen 1994 left the band back in order to focus on classical music can. His replacement was Petri Tiainen. Since then, the line-up the band has not changed.

In early 2009 the band gave known to pause indefinitely.
