Yüreğir

Yüreğir is a district of the city of Adana and also a county in the province of Adana in Turkey. The district with 416 160 inhabitants there since June 5, 1986, is located 23 m above sea level. Yüreğir is 857.987 km ². Before the reorganization of the province in 2008, the district was 1443 km ².

Attractions

To the east of the district lies the ruins of the Byzantine- small Armenian castle Gökvelioğlu Kalesi.

9 km south of Yakapunar is the built in 1122 Armenian monastery Arqakaghni, which was destroyed during the genocide of the Armenians in 1915.
