Yuri Alexandrov (ice hockey)
Yuri Alexandrovich Alexandrov (Russian Юрий Александрович Александров; * June 24, 1988 in Cherepovets, Russian SFSR ) is a Russian ice hockey player who is under contract with SKA St. Petersburg in the Kontinental Hockey League since June 2012.
Career
Yuri Alexandrov began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the junior division of Severstal Cherepovets, for the second team to 2005 he was active from 2003 in Perwaja League, the third Russian league. Then the defender was in the 2005/06 season his debut for Cherepovets ' first team in the Super League. In 39 games while he scored a goal and gave a presentation. Due to his successful rookie year finally voted him the Boston Bruins in the NHL Entry Draft in 2006 in the second round than a total of 37 players. However, the Russian junior national team stayed with his hometown club, with which he departed in the Kontinental Hockey League newly established starting from the season 2008/ 09. In the summer of 2010, the Bruins brought him to North America, gave him a two-year entry-level contract and put him in the following season with their farm team, the Providence Bruins in the American Hockey League.
In August 2011 he returned to Russia and was obliged by the SKA Saint Petersburg. For this, he played at the beginning of the 2011/12 season twelve games in which he prepared a goal before he was transferred in December 2011 in exchange for HK Avangard Omsk Andrei Perwyschin .. With Avangard he reached the playoff final for the Gagarin Cup, with Alexandrov in 34 games scored 11 points scorer. End of March 2012 changed the NHL transfer rights from the Bruins to the New York Islanders.
In June 2012, Aleksandrov returned to the SKA.
Internationally
For Russia Aleksandrov took part in the U18 Junior World Cup 2006, as well as the U20 World Junior Championships in 2007 and 2008 in part.
