Yuri Confortola

Yuri Confortola ( born April 24, 1986 in Tirano ) is an Italian Shorttracker.

Confortolas first international competition was held in January 2002 at the Junior World Championships in Chuncheon, where he retired already but no later than the quarter-finals in every race. A year later he missed in every contest the finals, but came at least twice in the semi-finals. Only in 2004 he managed the jump to the last pass over 1000 meters, where he now also won a bronze medal. He qualified for the Super Final of the top eight athletes, here he came, however, only 7th place with the season he won the silver medal on the other hand.

In October 2004 Confortola was first nominated for the short track speed skating World Cup in his two appearances in the 2004/05 season but not even he had a finals, with the relay. Although he again was unsuccessful in Belgrade at the 2005 World Junior Championships, he participated for Italy in the World Team Championships in South Korea, where he helped with good finishes that his team won the silver medal. With the season he retired at the World Individual Championships, however, already in the heats of. The performances in the World Cup 2005/ 06 was also right on with little success and without finals, so Confortola did not go on the last three World Cup stages of the season at the start. For this he took part in the major events of 2006, with varying degrees of success; while he won the European Championship with the relay and import decent results even with the team 's World Cup, already failed the Italian relay at the World Championships in the flow.
