Yuri Rozum

Yuri Alexandrovich Rosum (Russian Юрий Александрович Розум, even Yuri Rozum; born February 22, 1954 in Moscow ) is a Russian pianist.

Yuri Rosum studied at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory, where he was considered one of the most talented students. In 1975 he was selected to participate in the Concours Reine Elisabeth musical for piano in Brussels. Due to religious and political reasons, however it by the Soviet authorities to leave was not granted. Only years later Yuri Rosum had the opportunity to ask his skills abroad to the test. He quickly gained international recognition. Among other things, he won first prize at the 1980 Piano Competition of Barcelona and in 1984 the second prize at the International Music Competition Montreal .. In 2001 he was awarded the title People's Artist of Russia. Since 2009 he teaches at the Gnessin Institute in Moscow.
