Yuri Shatalov

Yury Grigoryevich Shatalov (Russian Юрий Григорьевич Шаталов; born June 13, 1945 in Omsk, Russian SFSR ) is a former Russian ice hockey player.

Career

During his Soviet period the defender played for Krylia Sovetov Moscow. Overall, he scored 32 goals in 441 games in the Soviet league. He was appointed to the team of the Soviet national ice hockey team early on. On December 7, 1968, he was in a game against Canada for the first time for the Sbornaja on the ice. His international career was crowned with the gold medal at the Ice Hockey World Championship in 1974. For the national team, he scored 3 goals in 29 internationals. On 21 December 1974 he played his last international match. In 1973 he was honored with induction into the "Russian Hockey Hall of Fame".
