Yuri Temirkanov

Yuri Temirkanov Chatujewitsch (Russian Юрий Хатуевич Темирканов; born December 10, 1938 in Nalchik, Kabardino- Balkar then Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic, Soviet Union ) is a Russian conductor.

Life

Temirkanov was born into a family belonging to the ethnic group of Kabarda. He was trained by Ilya Musin Petersburg Conservatory as a conductor on the Santa.

Temirkanov 's St. Petersburg Philharmonic since 1988, chief conductor of the Santa. From 2000 to 2006 he was chief conductor of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, before first guest conductor of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
