Yury Glazkov

Yuri Nikolayevich Glaskow (Russian Юрий Николаевич Глазков; born October 2, 1939 in Moscow, Russian SFSR, USSR; † December 9, 2008 in Moscow, Russia) was a Soviet cosmonaut and an officer in the Soviet and Russian air forces.

With a doctorate in engineering was parachutists in the Soviet airborne troops. After Glaskow was selected on 23 October 1965 the Yuri Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Centre as a cosmonaut, he graduated from November 1965 to December 1967 the basic training for cosmonauts. With Viktor Vasilyevich Gorbatko he formed the support team for Soyuz 21, and Soyuz 23 backup crew flew in 1977 Glaskow Gorbatko and finally with Soyuz 24 itself into space.

After retiring from the cosmonaut corps on January 26, 1982, Yuri Glaskow Deputy Director of Flight affairs at the Gagarin Training Center. 1989 Glaskow was promoted to Major General of the Soviet Air Force. Later Glaskow left the Russian Air Force and was until May 2000 First Deputy of the Head of Yuri Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center. After that, he was a research associate of the " Russian State Scientific Research Institute " of the cosmonaut training center.

Glaskow was married and had two children.
