Yury Morozov (footballer)

Yuri Andreyevich Morozov (Russian Юрий Андреевич Морозов; born May 13, 1934 in Sinyavino at Kirovsk; † 16 February 2005 in Saint Petersburg ) was a Russian football player and coach.

Morozov played from 1953 to 1958 at Zenit Leningrad. Other clubs were Admiraltejez Leningrad and Dynamo Leningrad, where he also wore the captain's armband.

1965 ended the midfielder, who was also appointed to the B team of the Soviet Union, his career and coached the youth at the zenith. Between September 1964 and December 1966 as a postgraduate student at the Leningrad Institute of Physical Culture. Morozov taught 1967-1974 football and hockey at the Lesgaft Academy of Physical Education, where he was dean for football sciences.

In 1974, he took an assistant coach position with the Soviet national football team, a position he held until 1990. From 1986 he was assistant to Valery Lobanovsky. Her biggest success was the second place at the European Championship 1988.

In October 1977 he was appointed head coach of Zenit Leningrad. Morozov held that post until December 1982, he succeeded in doing with the team a third place in the national championship and the best ever position in the association.

In December 1983, he took over the team of Dynamo Kiev and moved in December 1984 in the same capacity to CSKA Moscow, where he led the training until 1988. 1990 saw Morozov a reputation abroad and took over the training of the national soccer team of Iraq.

Morozov returned in December 1990 back to Zenit Leningrad and was there until February 1992 head coach. He then resumed his teaching at the Institute Lesgaft again until he took over the emirate of Sharjah they team in the United Arab Emirates. In 1994, he became coach Kuwaiti Olympic team and the youth team in the country.

In Zenit St. Petersburg Morozov was hired as sports director from January 1995 to December 1997. In December 1999 he was again the trainer function. Due to a disease he gave in 2002 his office on; he built up the young team was established in 2003 under his successor, Russian Vlastimil Petržela runner-up.

Morozov took over in February 2003 nor the unterklassige Petersburg team FK Petrotrest until he finally had to give up all his bad health because as coach. Morozov was considered a contender for the presidency at the zenith, however, this office had to decline due to health reasons.
