Yusuf II, Sultan of Granada

Yusuf II, whose full name Abu al - Hajjaj ibn Yusuf ath - thani Muhammad al- chamis / أبو الحجاج يوسف الثاني بن محمد الخامس / Abū l - Ḥaǧǧāǧ Yūsuf at- Tani b. Muḥammad al - HAMIS, († October 3, 1392 ) was the eleventh Nasrid Emir of Granada.

He was the son of Muhammad V, his successor as emir, he was after his death in 1391. In order to prevent the throne he was being challenged, he had him arrested and murdered his three brothers on his accession. His short reign is determined by the dependence of the Marinids.

In his reign, Yusuf II acted as a peace-loving monarch who was inclined towards the arts and the sciences. Despite his precautions against a palace coup, he was overthrown by intimates and courtiers, taken in imprisonment and finally poisoned. His son Muhammad VII became his successor.
