Yuta Watase

Yuta Watase (渡 瀬 雄 太Japanese, Yuta Watase; born August 8, 1982 in Rumoi, Hokkaidō Prefecture) is a Japanese ski jumper.

Career

Watase resigned in January 1999 at the World Cup in Sapporo for the first time at an international jumping and was able to win his first World Cup points with a 14th place right away. After he was able to achieve a first place with the team in the Hakuba Ski Jumping Grand Prix in the summer of the year, it was used from the World Cup season 1999/2000 and at the World Cup taking place in Europe. However, after a good start of the season with a 15th place in the opening event in Kuopio he could jump in any longer reach the second pass or failed several times in the qualification. In summer 2000, he joined only at the be held in Japan Grand Prix. Although he yielded only moderate performance there, he launched the following winter again in the World Cup. Once he even took part in another COC jumping in January and February 2005, he started at the end of the season back in FIS competitions in Japan. In the season 2005/ 06 he started only in a World Cup and FIS Cup, both held in Sapporo. In the following season 2006/ 07 he took even participate only in two FIS Cup. After he was taken up again in held in Sapporo COCs in January 2008 and achieved a second place there, he took the rest of the season 2007 /08 at the World Cup in part, but remained without significant results. In the Summer Grand Prix 2008 for seven years, he took the first time at summer competitions and was able to achieve rankings in the midfield. His best result at a World Cup competition he reached fifth place January 31, 2009 when jumping from the large hill in Sapporo.

In the Asian Games 2011 in Almaty, whose jump competitions were held at the newly built jumps of Gorney giant complex, Watase won as a team with Kazuyoshi Funaki, Yuhei Sasaki Kazuya Yoshioka and the gold medal. The premiere of the mixed- team competition as part of the Summer Grand Prix on 14 August 2012 at the French Courchevel he won with the Japanese team. At the very first mixed- race in the World Cup on November 24, 2012, he finished with the Japanese team in second place.

His father Yataro Watase (渡 瀬 弥 太郎) was a ski jumper and his two years younger sister Ayumi Watase (渡瀬 あゆみ) belongs to the world elite of women's ski jumping.
