Yuu Watase

Yuu Watase (渡 瀬 悠 宇jap, Watase Yuu, born March 5, 1970 in Osaka Prefecture, Japan ) is a Japanese manga artist.

Her debut as a manga artist she made in 1989 with Pajama de Ojama. Their big breakthrough came in 1992 with Fushigi Yuugi, which she completed in 1996 after 4 years and 18 volumes. The next success was in 1996 Ayashi no Ceres, Fushigi Yuugi as the was filmed for an anime. She drew further works such as Alice 19th Imadoki or, but could not connect to the giant success of Fushigi Yuugi and Ayashi no Ceres. Since 2003 she has started work on Fushigi Yuugi Fushigi Yuugi again and draws on Genbu Kaiden.

In 1998 she received for Ayashi no Ceres the 43rd Shogakukan Manga Award in the shōjo category.

Watase has a preference for watching movies in the fields of science fiction, comedy and fantasy.
