YÅ«zan Fujita

Yuzan Fujita (Japanese藤田 雄 山, Fujita Yuzan; born April 19, 1949 in Minami- ku, Hiroshima ) is a Japanese politician and served from 1993 to 2009 non-partisan Governor of Hiroshima Prefecture.

Fujita is the oldest son of former Sangiin President and Minister Masaaki Fujita. He completed his studies in 1972 at the Keio University and then worked for Mitsui Bussan. In 1982 he became secretary to his father. After the withdrawal of his father from politics in 1989 he was elected to the Sangiin for the Hiroshima Prefecture in 1989 Sangiin choice. In 1993 he resigned his seat to run for the governorship. At the time of his election, he was the nation's youngest governor. After that, he was re-elected three times. In June 2009, he announced, not to stand in the gubernatorial election on November 8, 2009 for a fifth term in office. The election won Hidehiko Yuzaki.
