Yves Mersch (born 1 October 1949 in Luxembourg ) is a Luxembourgian lawyer and bank manager. It was from its inception from 1998 to 2012 president of the Central Bank of Luxembourg. Since December 2012, he is member of the Governing Board.

Mersch has studied at the Sorbonne in Paris international law and is a member of the Luxembourg Bar. He is married and has two children.

On 19 March 2008 Mersch criticized the banks for their undue risk management, but took a softer tone regarding the future development of the European economy as a whole. In June 2012, he should succeed González- Páramo as a member of the Board of the European Central Bank, however, the European Parliament prevented his appointment six months in order to keep the position open for a woman. In November 2012, the European Council called Mersch, as opposed to a non-binding vote of the parliament, as of December 15, 2012 in the Board of the European Central Bank. His term lasted eight years.

Together with the Portuguese ECB Vice President Vitor Constancio he took over in December 2012, the responsibility for the project bank Union, one of the most important projects in the history of the ECB.
