Yvonne Cernota

Yvonne Cernota ( born September 19, 1979 in Halberstadt, † March 12, 2004 in Berchtesgaden ) was a German Bobfahrerin.

Cernota studied in Halle ( Saale) Biochemistry. As a brakeman, she belonged to the team of Cathleen Martini Bobpilotin. At the 2003 World Championships she won the bronze medal in the two- together. In winter 2003/2004, they confirmed this success by winning the European Championship and a fourth place at the World Cup in Koenigssee.

On 12 March 2004 she went as a pilot on a training run on the bobsleigh and luge track in Koenigssee ( Berchtesgaden ) in the lower track area in a curve at an acute angle against the inner band and was thrown from the car. In the accident, she moved to serious head injuries, which she succumbed in the hospital of Berchtesgaden. Your rider Stefan Grandi was thrown from the Bob and suffered injuries on his arm.
