Zack Kassian

Zack Kassian ( born January 24, 1991, Windsor, Ontario ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player who is since February 2012 at the Vancouver Canucks of the National Hockey League under contract and playing on the position of the right winger.

Career

Kassian was in the OHL Priority Selection selected in 2007 to fourth place by the Peterborough Petes, for which he subsequently in the Ontario Hockey League walked out onto the ice. In his second year in Peterborough, he was the second best scorer with 63 points of his team and took part for the team at the CHL Top Prospects Game Cherry. After he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 2009 to 13 out of the Buffalo Sabres, he was appointed to the 2009/10 season with the Petes to the team captain. In January 2010, he left the Petes and moved to his hometown club, the Windsor Spitfires. On 21 January 2010 Kassian has been banned after a check to the head of Matt Kennedy for 20 games. After his suspension, he won the J. Ross Robertson Cup the Spitfires and the Memorial Cup.

On 1 November 2010 he signed a three-year contract with the Buffalo Sabres. At the end of the 2010/11 season, the attacker completed three playoff games for the Sabres farm team, the Portland Pirates in the American Hockey League.

Through an exchange transaction on 27 February 2012 Kassian came with his teammate Marc -Andre Gragnani to the Vancouver Canucks.

Internationally

With the Team Canada Ontario Kassian 2008 won the gold medal at the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge. A year later, he played for Canada at the U18 World Youth Championship 2009., 2011, he won the Canadian selection at the U20 World Youth Championship, the silver medal.
