Zagłębie Wałbrzych

The GKS Zagłębie Wałbrzych (fully Górniczy club Sportowy Zagłębie Wałbrzych ) is a Polish football club from the city of Lower Silesia Wałbrzych ( German: Waldenburg ).

History

The club was founded on 12 December 1945 under the name Julia Bialy Kamien KS, which had been renamed in the meantime GKS Thorezes Wałbrzych, rose in the summer of 1968, after another name change on 22 February 1968, when GKS Zagłębie Wałbrzych in the Polish Ekstraklasa on.

With a third place in the 1970/71 season is Zagłębie qualified for participation in the UEFA Cup. There the Lower Silesians sat in the first round 1-0 and 3-2 against the Czechoslovak representative Union Teplice through, but failed in the second round with 1:1 and 1:2 at the Romanian team UT Arad.

1974 had Zagłębie the Ekstraklasa leave as Table. In the following years the club was relegated to the lower divisions as at regional level.
