Zagreb Botanical Garden

The Botanical Garden Zagreb (in Croatian Botanički vrt u Zagrebu ) is located in the center of Zagreb, the capital of Croatia, in the connection between the two legs of the Green Zagreb horseshoe.

The garden is about 50,000 m². About 10,000 species of plants thrive here, including about 1,800 exotic plants from around the world, but mainly from Asia. On beautifully landscaped paths can stroll between softwoods, artificial water bodies, gazebos and greenhouses of the University and enjoy the multiform beauty of trees, shrubs, flowers, and drawn in special ponds aquatic plants. In 2000, the park has been refurbished as some of the trees were infested with vermin.

1889 the Zagreb Botanical Garden was founded as part of the University of Zagreb by Antun Heinz. Today he is part of the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics ( PMF).

The park is closed from November to April.
