Zagreb Synagogue

The synagogue in Zagreb, capital of Croatia, was built in 1866/67, designed by Franjo Klein ( 1828-1889 ), in the Moorish style. In the era of National Socialism, it was destroyed.

Modelled on the Vienna Leopoldstadt Temple, because Zagreb then belonged to Austria - Hungary. The Leopoldstadt Temple also served as a model for many other European synagogues, the Cracow Tempel Synagogue, the Spanish Synagogue in Prague and the Templul Coral in Bucharest.
