Zakroczym
Zakroczym is a town in Poland, in Masovian Voivodeship in the district ( powiat ) Nowy Dwór Mazowiecki, about 32 km north- west of Warsaw, on the right ( eastern ) bank of the Vistula, on the expressway S7 Warsaw - Gdansk. In 2004 the city had 3395 inhabitants.
History
- Zakroczym was mentioned in 1065 in the so-called forgery of Mogilno.
- 1422 Zakroczym received the city of Kulm law.
- 1656-1657 served in the Second Northern War by the Swedes and partially destroyed.
- 1709 new destruction in the Great Northern War by the soldiers of the Swedish King Karl XII.
- 1793 Russian occupation.
- 1795 Prussian occupation - assigned to Thorner Regenz.
- 1831 during the uprising against the Russians seat of the leadership of the rebellion.
- 10 to 28 September 1939 - Zakroczym within the besieged fortress of Modlin.
- Fall 1944 - camp for about 30,000 refugees after the fall of the Warsaw Uprising
