Zalakaros

Zalakaros is a spa town in the west of Hungary. The 750 -year-old " rural " community with its almost 2,000 inhabitants has despite its small area of ​​only 17.17 km ² city rights, making it the smallest city in Hungary. She is also an aspiring spa resort in Zala county.

The place is located south- west of Lake Balaton ( Balaton ) near the nature reserve Kis -Balaton ( Little Balaton ) in the Zala hills.

Zalakaros is known primarily for its modern thermal, spa and pool complex. After a hole was unearthed on site in 1962, hot water from depth of 2000 meters and a chemical analysis had confirmed the healing effect of the particular mineral salt and sulphurous water, the bath was built three years later. The twin cities of Zalakaros are Puchheim in Germany and in Austria Asperhofen.
