Zalischyky

Zalischyky (Ukrainian Заліщики; Russian Залещики / Saleschtschiki, Polish Zaleszczyki ) is a small Ukrainian town has nearly 10,000 inhabitants. It is located in the Ternopil Oblast, south of the town Chortkiv and the district capital of Ternopil and lies on the River Dniester, on the other side of the river is the urban-type settlement Kostryschiwka.

History

The place was first mentioned in 1340 as a settlement in the Kingdom of Poland. 1569 were allocated to the province of Podolia, an administrative unit of the Polish-Lithuanian Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. 1750 Zalischyky had the status of a city. In 1766 the Magdeburg Law was granted. With the first Polish division Zalischyky 1772, the Habsburg monarchy in 1898 it came to the opening of a railway station operated by the corporation of the eastern Galician Lokalbahnen local railway Białaczortkowska - Zaleszczyki.

From 1918/1921, the city was part of the Voivodeship Tarnopol in the Republic of Poland and was a 1939 Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic in the USSR. Since 1991 Zalischyky part of the independent republic of Ukraine.
