Zamami Island

Zamami- jima (Japanese座 间 味 岛) is an island in the group of the Ryukyu Islands.
Geography
Zamami- jima has an area of 6.66 km ² and 578 inhabitants in 316 households (as of 31 March 2011). The island belongs to the same community Zamami of Okinawa Prefecture.
History
Zamami is considered the first landing point of the U.S. armed forces during World War 2.
Tourism
Today the population of Zamami lives mainly from fishing and various water sports for tourists. Popular scuba diving, snorkeling and whale watching are. On Zamami there are also beautiful beaches, such as the Kozamami - beach, which is ideal as a starting point for a diving or snorkeling trip.
The island can be easily reached from Naha with speedboats and ferries normal in 1-2 hours.
