Zar'it

Zar'it (Hebrew זרעית ) is an Israeli moshav in the Upper Galilee, near the Lebanese border in the Regional Council of Ma'ale Yosef. According to Israeli sources, two soldiers of the Israeli armed forces were captured by Hezbollah on 12 July 2006 in the vicinity and thus triggered the Israel - Lebanon conflict in 2006.

Name

The village was founded in 1967 and K'far Rosenfeld was named in honor of the American philanthropist William Rosenfeld. The foreign -sounding name was not well received by the inhabitants, and as a compromise, an acronym was by the head of the municipality proposed which with a Hebrew word united Rosenfeld's name, Zar'it ( Rosenfeld's memory will always be with us, זכר רוזנוולד עמנו ישאר תמיד ). The second meaning is the same bird whose singing can be heard within the community. The word literally means "seed", and as such fits to the agricultural character obvious communities.
