Zard

Izumi Sakai (Japanese坂 井泉 水, actually蒲 池 幸 子Sachiko Kamachi; born February 6, 1967 in Kurume, † May 27, 2007 in Tokyo ) was a Japanese pop musician that occurred from 1992 only under the pseudonym Zard.

Generally

Zard was originally a five-member group released their first single, " Good- bye My Loneliness" on 10 February 1991. For the third album in September 1992 but was only brought by the singer Izumi Sakai on the market, which retained the name of Zard for her next solo career.

There are only a few personal details about the artist known as her label issued little information, and it occurred only rarely in public.

Sakai wrote the lyrics of her songs herself and has also written for other artists texts. Some of their singles were used for world-famous anime series, among other things, Detective Conan, and Dragonball.

Sakai was one of the most successful Japanese female singers of the 1990s. Eleven of her singles reached number one on the Oricon singles charts, nine albums came at number one on the Oricon album chart. Overall, she has released 42 singles and 17 albums.

Izumi Sakai was after diagnosis of cervical cancer since June 2006 repeated in medical treatment. During an inpatient stay in a university hospital in Tokyo, she crashed on May 26, 2007 with a walk on the hospital grounds hard and died of head injuries suffered while a day later.

On September 14, 2007 they have a memorial concert with 13,000 visitors took in honor of the Nippon Budokan in Tokyo, including members of well-known Japanese bands.
