Żarkowo

Żarkowo ( German Sorkow ) is a village in the municipality Dębnica Kaszubska ( Rathsdamnitz ) in the powiat Słupski ( Stolp ) of the Polish Pomeranian Voivodeship.

Geographical location

Żarkowo located in Pomerania, about 23 kilometers southeast of the city of Slupsk ( Stolp ) eleven miles east of the church village Dębnica Kaszubska ( Rathsdamnitz ), two kilometers south-east of the church village Dobieszewo ( United Dübsow ) and a kilometer southeast of the village Podilli times (small Podel ). About six kilometers west of the village the road passes No. 210 Slupsk - Bytów ( Stolp - Buetow ), with which it is connected via side streets.

History

Sorkow was in earlier times a fief of the Grumbkow family. Around the year 1784 there were in the Good Sarkow Sorkow six half farmers and including the box located on the Mark of the village forester - Katens total of eight households. Sorkow was a knight free ' Well, that owned the Friederika Podewils widow, born of Grumbkow, was located at this time. Later Sorkow was purely a farming village. In addition to agriculture and forestry fishing in Schottow -Bach was operated.

Before 1945 Sorkow belonged to the municipality in the district of Klein Podel United Dübsow of the county Stolp in Pomerania Region of Pomerania. The responsible district office was located in Stolp.

At the end of the Second World War the town was occupied by the Red Army. As a result of the war, the place came as Żarkowo to Poland.

In the village now live about 50 inhabitants.

School

Before 1945, the children of Sorkow in small Podel went to school.

Church

The villagers present before 1945 were Protestant. Sorkow belonged to the parish of Great Dübsow and thus to the church Stolp -Altstadt.
