Zastavna Raion

Rajon Zastavna (Ukrainian Заставнівський район / rayon Sastawniwskyj; Russian Заставнянский район / Sastawnjanski raion, Romanian Raionul Zastavna ) is a raion ( administrative district) in the Chernivtsi Oblast, in western Ukraine. The center is the city of Rajons Zastavna.

The Rajon bordered to the north by the Rajone Zalischyky and Borschtschiw (both as part of the Ternopil Oblast ), to the east by Rajon Chotyn, on the southeast by the Rajon Nowoselyzja, to the south by the Oblasthauptstadt Czernowitz, in the southwest on the Rajon Kizman and in the west for a short distance to the Rajon Horodenka in the Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast.

The Rajon was built in 1940 after the occupation of Northern Bukovina to the Soviet Union as part of the Ukrainian SSR, more than 99 percent of the population in 2001 gave their nationality with Ukrainian on. Except for the places Rschawynzi Balamutiwka and all places were in the Bukovina.

On 10 February 2006 the hitherto Mussoriwka ( Мусорівка ) was called in the village Mossoriwka renamed.
