Zbigniew Wassermann

Zbigniew Franciszek Aquarius ( born September 17, 1949 in Krakow, † 10 April 2010 Smolensk, Russia) was a Polish politician, lawyer and prosecutor. From 2005 to 2007 he was Minister of Intelligence in the government under Kazimierz Marcinkiewicz and then the government of Jarosław Kaczyński. He was a deputy in the IV, V and VI. Sejm. He had therefore held a seat in the Sejm since 2001.

In 1972 he finished his studies in law at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow. He then worked as a prosecutor, first Chrzanów, then in Jaworzno, then in Brzesko and most recently in his home town of Krakow. He was elected on the list of Polish Law and Justice party in the Sejm IV 2001.

On April 10, 2010 Aquarius belonged to a Polish delegation headed by President Lech Kaczyński, who was to travel on the occasion of the seventieth anniversary of the Katyn massacre to the memorial to Russia. However, in a plane crash of the delegation near the military airfield Smolensk - North he came together with other high-ranking representatives of Poland died.

Aquarius Posthumously awarded on 16 April 2010 the Commander's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta ( Krzyż Komandorski Orderu Odrodzenia Polski ).
