Zbýšov

Zbysov ( German Zbeschau ) is a city in the Czech Republic. It is located 19 kilometers west of the center of Brno and belongs to Okres Brno- venkov.

Geography

Zbysov is located at the junction of Jaispitzer hills ( Jevisovicka pahorkatina ) for Bosko brázda in Moravia in the headwaters of the creek Brodky. To the northeast, the hill rises the sicka (421 m). North of the city lie the disused coal mines Jindřich, Antonín and Ferdinand. Located in the South Anna colliery is set also.

Neighboring towns are Babice in the north, Rosice and Tetčice in the northeast, Kratochvilka in the east, in the southeast Neslovice, Padochov, Mašínka and Oslavany in the south, Čučice in the southwest, and Ketkovice Lukovany in the west and Zakřany in the northwest.

History

Archaeological finds evidence of a settlement of the place since the Neolithic period. The first mention of Zbysov dates from 1280, when the country Marshal Bohuš of Drahotuše the village of his daughter left, it was donated to the monastery Oslawan at their monastery entrance.

In the second half of the 18th century, coal deposits were discovered in Rossitz - Oslawaner pool. 1790 consisted of 53 houses and Zbeschau had 313 inhabitants. 1820 opened on Siczka Mountain ( sicka ) with the coal mine " love of God " is the first coal mine.
