Zdeněk Blatný

Zdeněk Blatný ( born January 14, 1981 in Brno) is a Czech professional ice hockey player who stands since 2013 in Orli Znojmo of the Erste Bank Hockey League contract.

Career

Zdeněk Blatný began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the junior section of the HC Kometa Brno, where he was active until 1998. He then moved into the Canadian junior Western Hockey League in which he ran aground for the Seattle Thunderbirds and Kootenay Ice. With Kootenay he won in the 1999/2000 season the Ed Chynoweth Cup, the championship of the WHL. For this success, he contributed 27 points scorer in the 21 playoff games. With 17 Assists the winger was the best assist provider in the league. In addition, he was elected to the second all-star team of the WHL East. Already in NHL Entry Draft 1999, he was selected in the third round as a total 68 players from the Atlanta Thrashers. For this he was from 2001 to 2004 but only sporadically in the National Hockey League action. Mainly he played for their farm teams. Chicago Wolves in the American Hockey League and the Greenville Grrrowl in the ECHL

During the lockout in the 2004/05 season Blatný was in Europe at the Pelicans Lahti of the Finnish SM- liiga and his Czech homeland when HC Orli Znojemští from the Extraliga under contract. Following the resumption of gaming operations in the NHL the Junior World Champion from 2001 signed on 29 September 2005 as a free agent with the Boston Bruins. While he stood in five games for Boston in the NHL on the ice, but he was able to convince scorer with 30 points in 35 games with their AHL farm team Providence Bruins. In exchange for Brian Eklund from the Czech Republic was transferred on 8 February 2006 to the Tampa Bay Lightning. In the following one and a half years he played, but only for their AHL farm team Springfield Falcons. On 12 January 2007 he signed a contract with MODO Hockey of the Swedish Elitserien, with whom he won the national championship at the end of the 2006/07 season.

Following this success, the former NHL player moved to the beginning of the 2007/08 season for HC Ambri -Piotta in the Swiss National League A. After he had played only ten games for his new club, he returned to the Czech Republic and ran back there in the following two and a half seasons with the White Tigers Liberec. In November 2010 he received a contract with the Hannover Indians from the 2nd Hockey League, but left that after a few games and completed four games for HC Košice, before he was hired by the HC Dukla Trenčín in January 2011. For the 2011/12 season, he moved first to the Graz 99ers and currently he is with the Vienna Capitals under contract.

Internationally

For Blatný Czech Republic took part in the U20 World Youth Championship in 2001. In this he was world champion with his team. For this success he contributed five goals and two assists in seven games.
