Zdeněk Sýkora

Zdenek Sykora ( born February 3, 1920 in Louny, † July 12, 2011 ) was a Czech painter and sculptor.

Life

Sıkora painted since 1940 and had been found in 1960 the way to constructivist or concrete art. He was from 1966 professor of painting at the Charles University in Prague.

1964 Sykora has created a physicist at the University of Prague on the computer basics for its concrete- constructive painting. First, he has worked with mathematically structured random distributions of circles, squares and triangles. Zdenek Sykora was in 1968 with a graphic print and 3 sculptures participants in the documenta 4 in Kassel.

Since 1972 he worked on the " line images ", which have earned him fame around the world as highly sensual vivid meditations on the relationship between system and chance in aesthetics.

Sykora and his wife Lenka Sýkorová refer from books with random numbers the parameters for color, width and radii development of line clusters and put them virtually " pre-programmed " structures to classical acrylic painting. Sıkora lived and worked in Louny.
