Zdenko Runjić

Zdenko Runjić ( born October 26, 1942 in Slavonski Brod, † 27 October 2004 in Split) was a Yugoslav and Croatian composer and musician.

Biography

From 1945 lived Runjić in Split, where he attended elementary school and attended a secondary school in the area of ​​technology.

In 1967 he graduated in the field of electronics at the University of Split. Although he had no musical training, he was from 1960 to 1976 and from 1979 to 1992 the musical director of Radio Split.

From 1970 to 1974 he held the post of Director of the publishing house MEI INTER FIXED.

The late 1980s and early 1990s, he was the artistic director ( director ) of the Split Festival.

Music career

During his lifetime Runjić has written about 700 songs. Most of his songs (about 200) Oliver Dragojević sung. Cooperation between Runjić, Tereza Kesovija and Dragojević has introduced 23 first places in Split Festival Runjić.

The song Galeb i ja ( The Seagull and I ) is considered one of Croatia's most beautiful songs ever and became the unofficial anthem of the city of Split and Dalmatia completely.

In 1993 he founded, due to disputes with the Split Festival, a festival under the name Melodije Hrvatskog Jadrana ( Melodies of the Croatian Adriatic ) was also Zdenko Runjić a successful entrepreneur, his publishing house Skalinada very quickly gained a lot of attention in the Croatian music scene.

In 1998 he was awarded the Croatian music award Porin for his life's work.
