Zeckendorf Towers

The Zeckendorf Towers are a residential complex in Manhattan, New York City. The complex stands out in particular through its four 29-story towers, each with a height of 89.38 meters. The building was completed in 1987. The Zeckendorf Towers are located directly adjacent to Union Square and next to the 14 Irving Plaza.

History

The complex consists of 670 apartments and was built with the renaissance of Union Square Park in the late 1980s. It was designed by the architects complex Davis, Brody & Associates and named after the famous real estate agent William Zeckendorf ( 1905-1976 ). The building was built on the site on which previously including the department store S. Klein and the old Union Square Hotel were. During construction, the Landmarks Preservation Commission was intensely occupied with the environment and introduced a number of buildings around the Towers conservation, such as also the Union Square Hotel. Green Roof
