Zedelgem is a Belgian municipality located in the Flemish region with 22,320 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2012). It consists of the main village and the hamlets Zedelgem Aartrijke, Loppem and Veldegem. Bruges is located 8 km north-northeast, Oostende on the Belgian coast 18 km north-west.

The next highway exits are located in Bruges at the A10 / E 40 and Ruddervoorde on the A17.

Zedelgem has a regional railway station on the railway line Kortrijk - Zedelgem - Bruges; Bruges also keep on regional express trains.

There is a municipal partnership with Reil on the Mosel.

Towards the end of the Second World War there were around four large prisoner of war camp for up to 60,000 prisoners of the Wehrmacht and Waffen -SS.
