Zeeburg

Zeeburg is a district of the Municipality of Amsterdam Oost the municipality of Amsterdam in the Dutch province of North Holland. In October 2012 Zeeburg had about 50,000 inhabitants.

History

1990 Zeeburg officially became a city district of Amsterdam. The name was after Zeeburgerdijk ( " Zeeburgerdeich " ) and the Zeeburgereiland ( " Zeeburgerinsel " ) selected. In the 17th century, the name for the current Zeeburgerdijk the " Seeburg " was (named after a fortress ). End of the 19th century, housing began. At this time, the Eastern Hafengebied emerged ( Oostelijke Havengebied ), and neighborhood "Indian Buurt ".

In Zeeburg the parks are:

Flevopark on the eastern side of the Indian Buurt. It was established in 1908.

Diemer park near IJburg, a natural area that is twice as large as the Vondelpark ( about 95 acres ). The park was opened in 2004 and has, among others, a playground for children.

Zeeburg has four Neighborhood: Indian Buurt. The name arose early 20th century. Many neighborhood streets were named after islands and geographical concepts of a former Dutch colony. In 2003, the "Indian site name " counted 23,350 residents and distinguishes the residential area "Indian site name West" and "Indian site name Oost ". It is the oldest district in Zeeburg with more than 60 % different nationalities and over 100 different languages.

IJburg is emerging and is located in the east of Amsterdam. The neighborhood was built on artificial islands and is situated in the IJ. IJburg is accessible via numerous bridges and since 2005 with the IJ- tram No. 26 ( " IJtram " 26), which leads through Enneüs Heermabrug.

Eastern Docklands (former name: Rietlanden ). End of the 19th century, a port was here applied to the growing trade with India to handle.

Zeeburgereiland is an almost triangular island and lies between Oranjesluizen and the Diemerzeedijk. The Piet Heyn tunnel connects the port area to the east of the city since 1997 Zeeburg.

Designed by Robert Jasper Grootveld ship " De Oceaan " lies at the pier of Zeeburg and belongs to the he built " green fleet ".
