Zeglingen is a municipality in the district of Sissach the canton of Basel -Country in Switzerland.

Geography

Zeglingen located north of the Jura mountains on the southern end of the Eitals. In the field of community stems from the Eibach, one of the main tributaries of the Ergolz.

The community Zeglingen bordered to the north Kilchberg and Wenslingen, on the northeast by Oltingen, to the east by pipe (SO), to the southeast by Lostorf (SO), on the southwest by Wisen (SO), and on the west by Häfelfingen and Rünenberg.

History

The first mention of Zeglingen dates from 1358 as Zegningen.

On the Hochebele traces found from the Bronze and the Iron Age. In 1372, the village belonged to the rule Thierstein - Farnsburg, which was acquired in 1461 by the city of Basel. Until the Helvetic Revolution in 1798 Zeglingen belonged to the Official Farnsburg and then came to the district Sissach. Together with the District Sissach Zeglingen was after the Canton dividing part of the newly founded in 1833 the canton of Basel -Landschaft.
