Žeimiai Manor

The estate Žeimiai ( Lithuanian Žeimių dvaras ) is a manor house in a small town in the Žeimiai Rajongemeinde Jonava ( Kaunas district, Lithuania ) on the road from Jonava by SETA. The castle in late Classicist style is an architectural monument. There is a park with 20 species of plants.

History

1387 Jogaila gave the estate to Skirgaila. Thereafter, the court went on to Medekšos to Zavišos and in the 17th century. From 1676 to 1690 D. Medekša built the central lock. 1780 went to the Manor on Kossakowski.

Inventoried in 1890 and renovated in to the farm. In 1940 he was nationalized. After the Second World War there were apartments and a library. From 1959 to 1965 this was an agricultural pilot, then housed a dormitory for students.

Presence

The farm was privatized and is renewed with private and EU funds. There are educational and cultural events. The castle is being renovated.
