Željko Jovanović

Željko Jovanović (* November 26, 1965 in Rijeka, Yugoslavia ) is a Croatian politician (Social Democratic Party of Croatia SDP). Since December 2011 he has been Minister of Science, Education and Sports.

Life

Željko Jovanović studied medicine and economics at the University of Rijeka and received his PhD in 2005 dr. med; he worked as a doctor from 1997 to 2006 he worked in the management of the Croatian subsidiary of Hoffmann -La Roche, and thereafter for the Croatian branches of General Electric Healthcare and Schering- Plough.

1990 to 1992 he was a member of the SDP in the Parliament of SR Croatia. From 1993 to 2009 he was a member of the council of Rijeka. From 2007 to 2011 he was a member of the Croatian Parliament. From 2008 to 2011 he was president of the National Council for monitoring the implementation of anti- corruption strategy of the Croatian Parliament. From 2008 to 2011 he was a member of the party executive of the SDP.

In the cabinet in office since December 2011 Zoran Milanovic he is Minister of Science, Education and Sports.
